The use of cheques to make and receive payments has been declining over the past few years, and we are therefore discontinuing all cheque-related services with effect from 1 January 2021.
From 1 January 2021 we will no longer offer the following services:
Service | Impact |
Chequebooks | We will not print or issue new chequebooks. |
Bank cheques/Bank-guaranteed cheques | We will no longer issue bank cheques. |
Special/Immediate clearance | The standard seven-day clearance period will apply – you won’t be able to get special or immediate cheque clearance. |
Cheques with statements | We will no longer return cheques with statements. Electronic images of cheques will still be available. |
Cheque deposits | We will no longer accept cheque deposits into any account. |
Cheque encashment | We will no longer encash cheques. |

Every transaction is authenticated with your fingerprint or a PIN, and since you are not using your card details during the transaction, there is no risk of your card being cloned.
