Ok. Got it22 September is World Rhino Day
World Rhino Day celebrates all five species of rhino: black, white, greater one-horned, Sumatran and Javan. This initiative was first announced by WWF South Africa in 2010, and brings together non-governmental organisations, zoos, rhino sanctuaries, businesses and concerned citizens from across the globe to raise awareness and funds to protect the various rhinoceros species, all five of which are under threat from illegal rhino horn trade.
We are proud to be supporting a unique two-day rhino conservation experience
In celebration of World Rhino Day the award-winning Gondwana Game Reserve, near Mossel Bay in the Western Cape, has organised a once-in-a-lifetime two-day conservation experience on 21 and 22 September that aims to raise awareness about rhino protection. We are proud to be supporting this event by sponsoring seats at the gala dinner and giving our clients the opportunity to participate in this unique experience.
Guests can expect a first-hand experience of what it takes to protect our rhinos
The two-day programme includes the opportunity to experience rhino darting first-hand. The highlight will undoubtedly be the gala dinner event, where guests will enjoy a gourmet wine-paired menu, live musical entertainment, and a demonstration and live auction from renowned sculptor and wildlife enthusiast, Mark Coreth. Industry game changers in rhino protection will be the dinner table hosts.
Funds raised will also support the launch of a new conservation education fund
The Gondwana Conservation Foundation (GCF) is a non-profit organisation that contributes to the conservation of South Africa's threatened and endangered wildlife and vegetation in the southern Cape. A core focus of the GCF is to educate future generations and cultivate a passion for conservation. Multiple public and private game reserves have benefited from its antipoaching training programmes, and over 600 children have experienced the GCF Kids Conservation Programme. The GCF will soon be launching its Tertiary Education Fund, and the proceeds from this year's World Rhino Day will contribute to this fund.
